Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Offshore Wind Leasing Workshop

  • Montauk Yacht Club - Vanderbilt Room 32 Star Island Rd. Montauk, NY 11954 (map)

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will be holding a workshop on April 8 in Montauk, NY immediately prior to the Council's April Council meeting. The workshop will focus on the Federal offshore wind energy leasing process and how it relates to fishing.

In November 2013, BOEM released a draft report of fishing best management practices for offshore wind lease holders to use in their wind energy facility development plans. BOEM is continuing to collect comments on this draft document. Additionally, BOEM and the State of New York are reaching out to fishery stakeholders in New York to describe BOEM’s offshore wind leasing process, listen to stakeholder views on the draft best management practices related to fishing, and discuss the status of studies BOEM has undertaken related to fishing and offshore wind energy development.

BOEM staff will be on hand to discuss the Federal leasing process, the status of projects along the Atlantic coast, environmental studies, and the draft fishing best management practices.

Workshop registration will begin at 8:30 am registration, and the workshop will take place from 9:00 am to 12:15 pm.

Please RSVP to Cara Sanders (cara.sanders@boem.gov; 703-787-1746) March 28 to ensure that adequate seating is available for all participants.
