Research Steering Committee Meeting (Hybrid In-Person/Virtual)

The Council’s Research Steering Committee will meet on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 8:45 a.m. through 3:45 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to review the input received during the four Research Set-Aside (RSA) exploration workshops and make recommendations regarding potential redevelopment of the Council’s RSA program. The Committee’s recommendations will be considered by the Council during their June 2022 meeting.

Hybrid Meeting Details

This meeting will be conducted as a hybrid meeting. Committee members, other invited meeting participants, and members of the public will have the option to participate in person at the Sheraton BWI (1100 Old Elkridge Landing Road, Linthicum, MD 21090) or virtually via Webex webinar. Committee members attending virtually and in person will use the “raise hand” function in Webex to comment, ask questions, and, if needed, make any motions and vote.

Research Steering Committee Meeting

The Research Steering Committee met via webinar on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was for the Committee to review and provide feedback on the draft goals and objectives and a decision-tree document detailing critical questions and issues to be considered regarding a potential redevelopment of the Council’s Research Set-Aside (RSA) program. The Committee also continued to develop the topics and agenda for a fourth, and final, RSA redevelopment workshop in February.

Research Steering Committee Meeting

The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council’s Research Steering Committee met via webinar on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 to review proposed updates to the Council’s Five Year (2020-2024) Research Priorities document and to also develop the objectives and agenda for planned in-person workshop regarding the redevelopment of the Council’s Research Set-Aside (RSA) program. Committee feedback and recommendations on both topics will be presented to the full Council at their December meeting.

Research Steering Committee Meeting (Webinar)

The Council’s Research Steering Committee met on Tuesday, April 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The purpose of this Research Steering Committee (RSC) meeting was to discuss initial re-development of the research set-aside (RSA) program. The RSC also discussed workshop logistics, a range of topics/options for the workshop, next steps and collaboration with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, and other business. The Committee’s recommendations will be presented at a subsequent Council Meeting with the goal of hosting an RSA workshop in September 2020.

Research Steering Committee Meeting (Webinar)

The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council’s Research Steering Committee will meet on Friday, November 22, 2019, from 10:00 A.M. through 12:00 P.M. The meeting will take place over webinar with a telephone-only connection option.

The purpose of this meeting is for the Research Steering Committee to review and provide feedback on the Council’s draft Five-Year (2020-2024) Research Priorities document. The draft document has been re-organized and prioritized based on feedback and input from the Council’s Scientific and Statistical Committee (SSC), Monitoring Committees and Advisory Panels. Research Steering Committee recommendations will be incorporated into the draft document and provided to the Council prior to the December 2019 Council meeting when final review and approval is scheduled to take place.
