Applicants Sought for SAFMC Mackerel/Cobia Advisory Panel

The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (MAFMC) is seeking qualified applicants to serve as representatives on the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council’s (SAFMC) Mackerel/Cobia Advisory Panel (AP). The SAFMC’s APs inform and guide the SAFMC in developing and implementing federal fishery management plans and amendments. The Mackerel/Cobia AP addresses issues related to Spanish and king mackerel and Gulf cobia, which are managed together under the Coastal Migratory Pelagics Fishery Management Plan.

AP members are appointed for three-year terms. The MAFMC will compensate the selected representatives for travel and per diem expenses for any in-person AP meetings.

The SAFMC has asked the MAFMC to provide recommendations for one commercial and one recreational representative. If you are interested in applying, please complete an application by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

For more information about SAFMC Advisory Panels, see the AP Policy document.
