The NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center’s Cooperative Research Program and the New England Fishery Management Council are seeking research proposals focusing on Atlantic sea scallops. Research priorities are set by a committee of the council and cover a range of topics including work to better characterize current stock distribution and abundance, and to reduce catch of unwanted species.
Proposals will be accepted through 5 PM on December 2, 2013. The selection process is competitive, and projects are funded entirely through the sale of landed sea scallops that are set aside from the overall annual quota especially for this purpose.
